The Old Fashioned

The Old Fashioned

Personally this is one of my favorite classic cocktails. It must be made correctly though, somewhere in time (probably in the flavorless 80’s) this drink got watered down with soda water. At the White Mountain Cider Company, we like the strong old fashioned style!

2.5 Ounces of Good Whiskey
(I like Bulliet Rye)

2 Luxardo Cherries

1 Large Orange Peel

2 Dashes Fee Brothers “Old Fashioned Style” Bitters

1 tsp. Sugar

1 Tbsp. Soda Water

In a glass muddle together sugar, bitters, cherries, an orange peel, and soda water to make a slurry and dissolve the sugar.  Then add whiskey, stir, and strain into a rocks glass with ice.  I prefer to use one large ice cube, rather then lots of small ones, the drink doesn’t dilute as fast.  Finally garnish with cherries and an orange slice.

Sip and enjoy!
